How To Safely Add An Agency To Your Meta (Facebook) Business Suite

Before you start working with a digital marketing agency on your social media accounts, it is common for them to request access to Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, or any other social media marketing platforms you might be using. Account audits are essential because they allow our Paid Ad Specialists to assess your account’s current state, develop recommendations for improvement, and begin planning a strategy for moving forward if you decide to work with them. During the audit, Paid Ad Specialists don’t make changes; we scan and take notes.

As part of our audit process, we request access to several assets under your Meta Business Suite account. This access lets us review your account and run initial reports to share our findings. It also allows us to quickly remove our access if you decide we are not the right agency.

GRANTING META BUSINESS SUITE ACCESS:

Step 1: Go to Meta Business Suite

Start by heading to business.facebook.com.

Log in using your Facebook credentials. If you manage multiple businesses, select the correct one from the dropdown in the top left corner.

Step 2: Access Business Settings

In the left-hand menu, scroll to the bottom and click Settings next to the gear icon.

A new panel will appear to the right of the main navigation menu, labeled Business Info at the top.

Step 3: Navigate to Users → Partners”

Once in Business Settings, go to the left sidebar menu.

Click Partners under the Users section.

This is where you can add agencies and external businesses to manage your assets.

Step 4: Click the Add dropdown menu to assign a Partner

In the Partners tab, click the blue “Add” button. Then choose “Give a partner access to your assets”.

A pop-up will appear asking for the partner agency’s Business ID you want to add.

Step 5: Enter The Agency Business ID

In the field provided, enter the agency’s Facebook Business ID, which will need to be provided to you by their team.

Click Next to move on to asset assignment.

Step 6: Assign Asset Permissions

Now it’s time to choose which assets the agency can access and what access permissions we are granted. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Facebook Pages –  (Partial access to Ads and Insights)
  • Ad Accounts – (Full control)
  • Apps – (Full control)
  • Instagram accounts – (Partial access to Ads and Insights) You may need to log into Instagram to manage these settings.
  • Datasets & pixels – (Full control)
  • Shared audiences – (Full control

Step 7: Enable “Manage Ad Accounts” Access

In the asset permissions section, go to the “Ad Accounts” area.

Locate the ad account(s) you want to share with the trusted agency.

Under each, select the “Manage Ad Accounts” permission to grant full access. This allows the agency to create, manage, and monitor campaigns effectively.

Step 8: Grant Access to Your Dataset(s)

Scroll to the “Data Sources” section to assign access to your Pixel(s) or Customer Dataset(s).

Under Datasets & pixels, choose the appropriate Pixel or Dataset from the list.

Assign the necessary permission level, such as “Partial” or “Full,” depending on what the agency needs to support your campaigns.

This ensures accurate data tracking, remarketing, and performance optimization.

Step 9: Confirm & Finish

Review everything to make sure you’re assigning the correct assets with the appropriate access levels.

Click “Save Changes” or “Confirm.”

The agency you’ve added will now appear in your Partner list and will receive instant access to start working with your account.

Helpful Tips

  • Only grant access to the assets needed. You can always add more later as your partnership evolves.
  • Use Business Manager, not personal Facebook accounts, for all collaborations. This keeps your assets secure and organized.
  • You can update or remove access at any time. Just return to the Partners tab to make changes.
  • Keep asset names clear. If you manage multiple brands or ad accounts, use specific names to avoid confusion.
